dc.description.abstract Caption title. One in a series of pamphlets replying to Francis Rous's The lawfulness of obeying the present government. The 1st was "A religious demurrer ..." (1649) possibly by Nathaniel Ward and 3 others identified as "A.B.C."; the 2nd, "A second part of the religious demurrer, by another hand", and the present piece are by "A" or "C". The 4th was "Discolliminium ... by B.", widely but erroneously attributed to Ward. Not to be confused with The grand case of conscience concerning the engagement stated & resolved. Erroneously attributed to Rous by Wing. Place and date of publication from Wing. Reproduction of original in Harvard University Libraries.
