Consists of two files of news stories extracted from the Associated Press
network during December 1979, totalling approximately 250,000 words (2.5 Mb)
The text was deposited by Dr G. Akers in 1979; its origins and
encoding are unknown. The material following this note appears to
index the actual stories, which are held in two files APNEWS1 and APNEWS2
No editing or proof-reading has been carried out on the files, but they
appear to be substantially accurate and consistent.

An attorney for middleweight boxer Marvin Hagler
is client ``may file suit in federal court'' if he is not
given an immediate rematch with champion Vito Antuofermo.
Hagler and Antuofermo fought to a draw last month in Las Vegas,
and the champ said following the fight that he would give the
Brockton challenger a rematch.
But a spokesman for New York-based promoter Bob Arum said
Britain's Alan Minter is the World Boxing Council's No. 1
contender, and it was agreed before the Nov. 30 Antuofermo-Hagler
bout that Minter would get a shot at the winner.
Steve Wainwright, Hagler's attorney, said if both the WBC and
the rival World Boxing Association sanction the Minter fight, he
may go to court to block it.

with WBA and WBC officials,'' Wainwright said.

Before the hole, there wasn't much to be
excited about in Monroe. Mostly, it was just known as the
third-largest town in Sevier County.
But the hole is about to steam up the residents. It's the core
of the first city-run geothermal heating system in the nation and
it lies smack in the middle of central Utah's coal fields.
The geothermal well on a hillside east of town will enable many
of Monroe's 2,000 residents to stop shoveling coal next winter and
enjoy the benefits of the city-owned-and-operated project.
