WHEREAS His Majesty by his Letters Patents hath appointed me Captain General and Governour in Chief of the Province of New-York. &c. I have therefore Thought fit by the Advice of his Majesties Council to Continue all Officers Civil and Military within the said Province, in their respective Offices and places until further order, and all his Majesties Subjects are hereby required to comport themselves accordingly.

Given at New-York, the 2 d Day of April in the Tenth Year of his Majesties Reign Anno (que) Domini 1698.
