HONI SOIT QVI MAL Y PENSE

WHEREAS, by the Act of Convention of the Estates of this Kingdom, holden at Edinburgh, the fourth day of August last, for granting a Taxation of His Majesty of fourty shillings upon ilk Pound-land of old extent; it was statute and or­dained, that the twenty fifth day of October last should be the day of meeting, for all Archbishops, Bishops, Abbots, Priors, Lords of Erection and all other Kirk-men, to conveen with their Vassals, for setting down of Taxt-rolls of relief, as in the said Act of Conven­tion, of the date abovewritten, at more length is contained. And the Lords of His Majsties Privy Council, being informed, that there are many who have neglected the first day of meeting; alledging that it was long before the said Act was published, and was not proclaimed at the head Burroughs of this Kingdom; Have therefore appointed the fourteenth day of March next to come, to be the precise day, for all these that have neglected the keeping of the twenty fifth of October, for conveening, and setting down their Taxt-rolls of relief, after the form and tenor of the said Act of Convention. And ordains these presents to be printed, and published at the Mercat-crosses of the head Burroughs of this King­dom, that none pretend ignorance.
