A Mornyng prayer

O Mercieful & most louing Father whose loue is infinit, whose merci indureth for euer, we sinful creatures, trusting in thyne vnspeakeable goodnes and loue towards vs, do appere this morning before thy deuyne maiestye, most lowlye confessyng our manifold sinnes, and innumerable transgressyons of thy commaundements, and fatherly wil. Against the onelye, agaynste the (O Lorde: haue we synned, therfore we confesse oure synnes, we knowledg our offēces, we accuse our selues vnto the O mercyfull lord, & wyl not hyde our vnryghtousnes. [Page]We finde in oure selues nothinge but ignorance of thy wil disobedience, mistruste, doutefulnes in thy goodnes, and incredulitiy, hatred, and contēpt of al spirytuall thynges, selfeloue, confydence in oure selues and feruēt lustyng after carnal thynges of thys worlde. And this tree of oure corrupt nature, bringeth forth contynually in vs none other frute, but rottē, and vnsauery workes of the fleshe, in thoughtes wordes and doynges, vnto condempnacyon. Wherfore, we humbly beseche thy fatherlye goodnesse, euen for thy sonne Iesus Christes sake, whom thou hast set forth for a purchaser towarde vs of mercye, throughe faith in his bloude: to make oure hertes clene, take away our stonye hertes, & geue vnto vs a true and [Page]a lyuely faith, whiche shall worcke contynuallye by loue, throughe Christ. Haue mercy vpon vs, forgeue vs our sinnes, for thy sonnes sake, certifye our Conscience of remission of the same, by thy holye spirit, by whose operacion, so mortify in vs our old man, the whole body of sinne, that we continualy, dying vnto sin may walcke in newnesse of lyfe, to the glorye of thy name, through Iesus Christe our Lorde. So be it.
