            <p>EEBO-TCP aimed to produce large quantities of textual data within the usual project restraints of time and funding, and therefore chose to create diplomatic transcriptions (as opposed to critical editions) with light-touch, mainly structural encoding based on the Text Encoding Initiative (http://www.tei-c.org).</p>
            <p>The EEBO-TCP project was divided into two phases. The 25,363 texts created during Phase 1 of the project have been released into the public domain as of 1 January 2015. Anyone can now take and use these texts for their own purposes, but we respectfully request that due credit and attribution is given to their original source.</p>
            <p>Users should be aware of the process of creating the TCP texts, and therefore of any assumptions that can be made about the data.</p>
            <p>Text selection was based on the New Cambridge Bibliography of English Literature (NCBEL). If an author (or for an anonymous work, the title) appears in NCBEL, then their works are eligible for inclusion. Selection was intended to range over a wide variety of subject areas, to reflect the true nature of the print record of the period. In general, first editions of a works in English were prioritized, although there are a number of works in other languages, notably Latin and Welsh, included and sometimes a second or later edition of a work was chosen if there was a compelling reason to do so.</p>
            <p>Image sets were sent to external keying companies for transcription and basic encoding. Quality assurance was then carried out by editorial teams in Oxford and Michigan. 5% (or 5 pages, whichever is the greater) of each text was proofread for accuracy and those which did not meet QA standards were returned to the keyers to be redone. After proofreading, the encoding was enhanced and/or corrected and characters marked as illegible were corrected where possible up to a limit of 100 instances per text. Any remaining illegibles were encoded as &lt;gap&gt;s. Understanding these processes should make clear that, while the overall quality of TCP data is very good, some errors will remain and some readable characters will be marked as illegible. Users should bear in mind that in all likelihood such instances will never have been looked at by a TCP editor.</p>
            <p>The texts were encoded and linked to page images in accordance with level 4 of the TEI in Libraries guidelines.</p>
            <p>Copies of the texts have been issued variously as SGML (TCP schema; ASCII text with mnemonic sdata character entities); displayable XML (TCP schema; characters represented either as UTF-8 Unicode or text strings within braces); or lossless XML (TEI P5, characters represented either as UTF-8 Unicode or TEI g elements).</p>

            <head>AN <hi>Abſtract out of the Re<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>cords of the Court of</hi> Par<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>liament.</head>

               <seg rend="decorInit">W</seg>HEREAS the Kings Aturney gene<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>rall hath ſhewne vnto this Court (all the Chambers of the ſame being Aſſembled) that notwithſtanding by manie Orders heeretofore giuen with great and ma<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>ture deliberation, the Court hath con<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>firmed the Maximes and general rules time out of minde holden in Fraunce, and borne together with the Crowne: That is, <hi>That the King doth acknow<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>ledge no ſuperior in matters temporall within his Realme, but GOD onely. And
<pb n="2" facs="tcp:20812:3"/>that no Power hath any right or authority to diſpenſe with or diſcharge his Subiects from the Oath of Fidelity and Obedience which they owe vnto him, neither to ſvſ<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>pend, depriue or depoſe him from his ſaid Kingdome, mvch leſſe to attempt or cauſe to bee attempted by authority either pub<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>licke or private, any thing againſt the ſa<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>cred perſons of Kings.</hi> Neuertheleſſe the ſaide Atturney Generall hath bene ad<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>uertiſed, That by diuers Diſcourſes as well in priuate as in publicke, manie perſonnes haue giuen themſelues Li<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>bertie to call in queſtion ſuch Maximes and Generall rules to diſpute the ſaine, and to holde them for Queſtionable, whereby may ariſe great inconuenien<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>ces, againſt which it is neceſſarie, and that with Speede to prouide Remedie. The ſayde Atturney requyring, That conſidering the Court is aſſembled, It may pleaſe the ſame (all other affayres ſet apart) to ordaine that the ſaide Or<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>ders
<pb n="3" facs="tcp:20812:3"/>and Decrees be renewed and pub<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>liſhed againe in all Courtes of Iuſtice appertaining to the ſame Iuriſdiction, while the Court is ſitting, To the end that the minds of all the Kings Sub<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>iects, of what quality or condition ſoe<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>uer they bee, may remaine confirmed &amp; aſſured of the ſaid Maximes &amp; Rules: and for the better ſecurity of the kinges life, peace, and publick tranquility. For<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>bidding all perſonnes to contradict the ſame, vpon the penalties declared in the ſaid orders. And that it bee inioyned to all the Deputies of the ſayd Atturney, to cauſe publication therof to be made, and thereof to certify this Court with<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>in the month, vpon pain to be depriued of their Offices.</p>
            <p>
               <hi>The Court, all the Chambers beeing aſ<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>ſembled hath ordained and doth ordaine, that the Decrees made the 2. of December An. Dom. 1561. the nine and twentieth of December, An. Dom. 1594. the ſeventh of
<pb n="4" facs="tcp:20812:4"/>Ianuary, and the nineteenth of Iuly, Anno Dom. 1595. the ſeven and twentith of May, the eight of Iune, and the ſix and twentith of November. An Dom. 1614. ſhal be kept and obſerved according to the forme and Contents thereof: the ſaid Court prohibi<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>ting all perſons of what qualitie and con<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>dition ſoeuer to contradict the ſame vpon the penalties therein contained. And to that intent the ſaide Orders and Decrees ſhall be publiſhed within the precincte of the Bayliffes and Sheriffes Government, Bailliages, Seneſchalſes, and other places of Iuſtice of this iuriſdiction, by the dilli<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>gence and procurement of the Deputies of the ſaid Atturney generall, who ſhall certi<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>tifie this Court of their proceedings there<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>in within the Month, vpon penalty to an<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>ſwer the ſame in their owne perſons.</hi>
