AN Abstract out of the Re­cords of the Court of Par­liament.

WHEREAS the Kings Aturney gene­rall hath shewne vnto this Court (all the Chambers of the same being Assembled) that notwithstanding by manie Orders heeretofore giuen with great and ma­ture deliberation, the Court hath con­firmed the Maximes and general rules time out of minde holden in Fraunce, and borne together with the Crowne: That is, That the King doth acknow­ledge no superior in matters temporall within his Realme, but GOD onely. And [Page 2]that no Power hath any right or authority to dispense with or discharge his Subiects from the Oath of Fidelity and Obedience which they owe vnto him, neither to svs­pend, depriue or depose him from his said Kingdome, mvch lesse to attempt or cause to bee attempted by authority either pub­licke or private, any thing against the sa­cred persons of Kings. Neuerthelesse the saide Atturney Generall hath bene ad­uertised, That by diuers Discourses as well in priuate as in publicke, manie personnes haue giuen themselues Li­bertie to call in question such Maximes and Generall rules to dispute the saine, and to holde them for Questionable, whereby may arise great inconuenien­ces, against which it is necessarie, and that with Speede to prouide Remedie. The sayde Atturney requyring, That considering the Court is assembled, It may please the same (all other affayres set apart) to ordaine that the saide Or­ders [Page 3]and Decrees be renewed and pub­lished againe in all Courtes of Iustice appertaining to the same Iurisdiction, while the Court is sitting, To the end that the minds of all the Kings Sub­iects, of what quality or condition soe­uer they bee, may remaine confirmed & assured of the said Maximes & Rules: and for the better security of the kinges life, peace, and publick tranquility. For­bidding all personnes to contradict the same, vpon the penalties declared in the said orders. And that it bee inioyned to all the Deputies of the sayd Atturney, to cause publication therof to be made, and thereof to certify this Court with­in the month, vpon pain to be depriued of their Offices.

The Court, all the Chambers beeing as­sembled hath ordained and doth ordaine, that the Decrees made the 2. of December An. Dom. 1561. the nine and twentieth of December, An. Dom. 1594. the seventh of [Page 4]Ianuary, and the nineteenth of Iuly, Anno Dom. 1595. the seven and twentith of May, the eight of Iune, and the six and twentith of November. An Dom. 1614. shal be kept and observed according to the forme and Contents thereof: the said Court prohibi­ting all persons of what qualitie and con­dition soeuer to contradict the same vpon the penalties therein contained. And to that intent the saide Orders and Decrees shall be published within the precincte of the Bayliffes and Sheriffes Government, Bailliages, Seneschalses, and other places of Iustice of this iurisdiction, by the dilli­gence and procurement of the Deputies of the said Atturney generall, who shall certi­tifie this Court of their proceedings there­in within the Month, vpon penalty to an­swer the same in their owne persons.
